The Daniel Power song “Bad Day” has become an anthem of modern life. Software is not immune to this theme. On March 10, 2026, WordPress had a version of the “Bad Day” song, as it had, well, let’s say, a weird day.
WordPress rolled out version 6.9.2 in the morning, an update intended to tighten security, patch bugs, and deliver a few behind-the-scenes performance boosts. But literally minutes after it was born, the release proved to be a problem child, causing many sites to crash. And by late afternoon, WordPress 6.9.3 arrived, ending the previous incarnation’s short-lived, troubled existence. The next day, WordPress released 6.9.4 to quickly address additional security issues found by the online community.
